We were approached by an existing client, their Architect together with Bedford Councils Heritage Department in the restoration of one of the key buildings on the high street in Bedford.
Due to increased funding By English Heritage we were able to assist with getting funding for our clients building.
Our works as a main contractor were closely monitored by Bedfords Heritage department together with English Heritage and works consisted of the following
Replacement of sash windows to the building using traditional methods with specialist glass
Cleaning of façade surfaces including removal of paint with chemicals.
Rebuilding and restoring the historic and detailed features of the buildings façade including making moulds of details to replicate including sending stone samples to be analysed for reproduction.
Decoration of the building using linseed oil based paints
As the building was on a busy section of the high street logistics played an important part of our way of managing the works from the scaffold being erected and dismantled on a Sunday, too early morning deliveries and waste collection and the most important part in maintaining high levels of safety to the public whist the works are in progress.
Below are some press releases on the project
